Submission procedures for files at the Lille prefecture
These submission rules apply to foreigners living in Lille. To obtain a first residence permit “private and family life”, send the file by registered mail. A form must be completed and sent by email to pref-rdv-etrangers@nord.gouv.fr with complete supporting documents. Only complete files will be reviewed.
For renewals, also send the file by registered mail. Don’t forget any documents!

Appointments are given between 3 and 5 months after your request, depending on the type and reason. It is important to start your procedures within 2 months of your arrival in France. For a renewal, do it at least 2 months before the end of your current permit.
Steps to make an appointment
You can request an appointment in writing if you are a foreigner in Lille. This applies to both a first request and renewals of permits with special mention. Send your file by registered mail for these cases as well.
File to be prepared
The file must include a valid passport or its receipt, and the receipt for the residence permit. Include the previous permit except for a first request, and the necessary tax stamp.
Processing times
Summons are between 3 and 5 months after the request, depending on your situation. For a new permit, start the procedures within 2 months of your arrival. If it is a renewal, plan for at least 2 months before the expiration date.
